  • My name is Samuel and I’ll see you all in hell

Yeah, I bought Johnny Cash’s final album, “When The Man Comes Around”. It’s… nice.

I’m really here to tell you about a website my coworker pointed me to today, though. It lets you search for an artist you like and shows you other similar artists on a map sort of thing… the closer two artists are together, the more similar they are. It lives here:

Hey Joy, you’ll be happy to know I signed a Margaret Atwood book out of the library today. I might even read it.

  • Oops

Looks like I broke my website. Oh well. I’ll have to fix it later.

What do you do when all you have to eat are some eggs and a package of taco seasoning mix? Combine them, of course!

This is the first entry in a series that will consist of recipes I invented because I forgot to go shopping.

  • A Public Service Announcement

Have you cleaned your grease-laden surfaces lately?

Seriously, folks. Cooking is a leading cause of home fires, and accumulations of grease on range hoods and other surfaces are a major fire hazard. Wash those grease filters once a month, and be sure to get up underneath there with a soapy rag once in awhile. Note: using accumulated grease in your cooking is not recommended.

Went to a party last night at Shauna’s place. I was too tired to enjoy myself much, but I did snap a whole buttload of pictures. The first few pictures in there are of the new jam space the band I’m in has moved in to.

  • Satan, Oscillate My Metallic Sonatas

I got my cell phone bill in the mail today. It was $64.46, which is kinda cool, cause it’s a palindrome! That’s more than it ususally is, but about $10 of that was due to my attempts to download new ringtones onto my phone. I had to take a midi file, edit it to the first few seconds of the song, then upload it to a free wml hosting site and download it onto my phone. It was a hassle, but now my phone plays the intro from Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Sweeeeeeeeeeet.

That reminds me, I’ve figured out why I’m so obsessed with That 70’s Show. Aside from the fact that it’s got a great cast and fairly inspired writing, I mean. The reason is that I totally relate to Eric Forman. Not so much with his family situation; I mean, my sister is not a total slut, and my parents are much less, uh, intense. But Eric and I are both pretty geeky, kinda insecure but all-around nice guys.

I just wish I had his girlfriend.

  • Mission Accomplished

It’s 7:42am and I’m on the bus. Putting my clock radio where I can’t reach it from my bed had the desired effect. My whole bus-taking routine seems to have been disrupted, though. I keep forgetting to bring my mp3 player.

The roads are clear now that it’s warming up, but the walk from where I park to where I work would likely still be all slush, so it’s good that I’m bussing it today. I’m still debating getting a bus pass and bussing it every day. I like this blogging on the bus thing, it’s kinda cool. I’ll have to figure out some way to interface my PDA with my cell phone so I can update immediately and not have to wait until I get home.

  • Ach Part Deux

Written on my PDA on the bus this morning:

Yeah, this is what happens when I stay up too late. Somehow I’ve acquired this annoying habit of turning off the alarm as soon as it goes off and promptly falling back asleep. Fortunately I usually manage to wake up again just in time to throw on some clothes and get to work, but I really wish I could have showered this morning.

The snow is falling as was promised, though it’s not quite the torrential blizzard I was hoping for. (Can snow be “torrential”, or is that adjective reserved for rain?) Maybe it will pick up later. The person sitting next to me on the bus requested that I open the window since it was getting stuffy, and I happily complied. Now invigorating little wisps of snow are falling down the back of my neck.

For lunch: tuna sandwich. I had time to make it only because I made the filling yesterday. So far I’ve been doing well at keeping my new year’s resolution to pack a lunch more often. It is only day two, however. I make no promises for tomorrow.

The contents of the vent below the bus window:
    one finishing nail
one holographic sticker reading “100% UV Blocking / protect your eyes”

  • Ach

As you may have noticed I’ve updated the site a little. I got rid of the ugly greenness, made a new logo, etc. It’s still a work in progress, as always, but I feel a little better for having finally done something to it.

Now the problem is, it’s 1:12am, and I have to be up at 6:30am. *sigh*

  • Back to the grind

Well, today was my first day back at work after two weeks of Christmas vacation. Due to the icy streets I elected to take the bus to work, and with more snow in the forecast I’ll likely take the bus to work tomorrow as well.

I’m glad I’m not a big fan of hockey or I would be horribly disappointed.

I wish it had started snowing already. I would love go for a nightime walk in the snow. We don’t see much snow here on the island, so when it happens you have to take advantage. Somehow I have managed to avoid actually seeing any snow falling, as it snowed in Comox while I was in Victoria and it snowed in Victoria while I was in Comox. So far all I’ve seen is the aftermath, which looks nice on the trees but gross and dirty on the roads. I would like nothing more than to wander about aimlessly outside with the snow falling around me, listening to the eerie silence only a fresh snowfall can bring.

Falling snow always reminds me of Song for a Winter’s Night by Sarah McLachlan.

  • Happy New Year

Well, it’s a new year and I figured I might give the ol’ weblog another try. Let’s face it, my first attempt was pretty pathetic. Maybe this time things will work out better. I’m still debating whether or not to leave the old entries in place. I really want to obliterate them, but I feel like I’d be cheating somehow. So for now they stay.

Lots of new pictures are posted in the gallery. I’m trying out a new gallery script, which you can check out here. Only a couple albums have been moved over so far, I’ll move the rest over when I get around to it. One of the nice things about the new gallery is you can order prints easily, so if there’s a picture there you really want a copy of, click on the picture and select a service from the list box at the top of the page. If you try this, let me know how it turns out.

And if there’s a picture you really wish I’d get rid of, let me know and I’ll happily oblige. I’m not out to embarass anyone. Much.
