  • A Night in Nanaimo

Last night I went to Nanaimo with my bandmates in Jay Dunphy and the Religion to play a show at The Cambie. The relevant photographic evidence is here.

    Some highlights from the evening:

    • Winning $100 on a pull-tab, and calling Clay to gloat about it
    • Going down to the Malaspina college radio station at 2am with Jay to drop off a CD and ending up on the 420 Club radio show, hosted by Big G and Almost On Time Wray
    • Matt saying “Marmelade is OK in my books”, and me replying, “Doesn’t that make the pages all sticky?”

Joy was the evening’s chronicler. You can read her account of the evening’s events is on her blog.

  • Kings of Chaos

I’ve been playing an online game called Kings of Chaos lately. It’s pretty cool, you build up an army and attack other kingdoms and steal their gold and stuff. Check it out here:

Even if you don’t want to play, please click on the link and then click the number displayed. That will add soldiers to my army.

  • What kind of drunk are you?

Found via J and M. The funniest part is that today I was dressed just like the guy in the picture.

What kind of drunk are you?

    Unconscious Drunk (or Blackout Drunk)

So did you have a good night or what? You don’t remember, because you passed out in the first hour of the evening. Your friends probably left you in the car or let you curl up under the table while they partied.

  • Gig Tonight at Logan’s

Short notice, I know. I’m terrible at this advertising stuff.

  • Jesus died! Let’s eat chocolate.

What a sweet weekend, and it isn’t even over. Spent Friday enjoying the sunshine with a good friend. Lunch at White Spot, nine holes at the Henderson pitch ‘n putt, Blizzards at Dairy Queen. Then yesterday and today me and the rest of the band went into the studio to record the bed tracks for our forthcoming album. We started doing overdubs this afternoon, and everything seems to be coming together nicely. Keep your fingers crossed for us.

  • Fun with Google

As a visitor has commented in a previous entry, my site is the first one to come up when you search Google for “satan sonatas”. I also notice I’m on the list when you search for “feel great”. Anyone else get here on an interesting Google search?

Of course, the smart thing to do would be to install one of those programs that analyzes your server logs and tells you where everyone is coming from. One of these days…

  • Ahhhhhh

The band is going into the studio to record this weekend. Should be nervewracking and exciting and boring and fun all at once. Recording usually is.

It is impossibly sunny outside right now. I think I’ll have to go for a walk.

  • Blisters, Candles, Etc.

Apparently if you get blisters on your toes after playing squash, you should try wearing two pairs of socks. I will be testing this theory in roughly 40 minutes.

I had four people sleeping in my living room last night. I awoke at 3am to the sounds of their drunken arrival. I fear repercussions from the upstairs landlords, but these fears have so far been unfounded.

I rolled up the rim and won a free coffee.

I lit a candle for no good reason at all.

I go to parties where four girls kiss at once and people undress passed-out drunk party hosts.

  • Semi-Louise at Lucky Bar

Went and saw Semi-Louise at Lucky Bar tonight. They put on an excellent show. They’re pretty tight considering it was their first gig ever. If you’re into the stoner rock (and who isn’t?) I highly recommend catching them next time they play. Check their website here.
